Fast rising prospect pulls the trigger
Two-way standout Ryan Murphy (6-2, 190, 4.4) from Oakland (Calif.) Tech made up for lost time as he once was considered a sleeper, but his senior season saw him earn offers from the likes of Fresno State, Arizona State, Oregon State, Washington State and UCLA. He made his college decision today.
"The academics were key," Murphy said on why he chose Oregon State. "Other than that it was the people. Not only the coaching staff, but the professors, academic advisors and even the students were just very down to earth and very caring. They view their players more than just athletes.
"I will probably play safety," Murphy said. "But during training camp they're going to give me an opportunity to play running back and safety.
