Martin puts K-State back on big stage
The clock wound down, and members of the courtside media, fearing a possible near-trampling as the student body celebrated a big win, began to clear out of their seats. No. 9 Kansas State was about to complete its victory over top-ranked Texas on Monday, and the college basketball world expected the students to rush the court. After all, that's what you do when you knock off No. 1 on ESPN's Big Monday, right? In this case, wrong. Other than a few jubilant young men, who dashed onto the court from an alumni section, the students stayed put and celebrated in the stands. They not only acted like they had been there before, but this generation of Wildcat fans also was educated enough to know that K-State basketball had indeed been here before. And for a very long time.
