Anderson receives long-coveted offer
Geoff Ketchum
Orangebloods.com Cibolo Steele defensive tackle Marquis Anderson got a good, long look at the University of Texas on Saturday afternoon.
Although he's been to the 40 Acres on numerous occasions, this trip was a little different. For starters, there was a conversation with Texas head coach Mack Brown that ended with Anderson receiving a coveted scholarship offer.
"We got up there and I had a chance to talk with coach Tolley (Mike Tolleson) and we just talked about the school's academics and how they do stuff. After we had lunch I had a chance to talk with Mack Brown and some of the players.
"Yes, it felt good (to receive the offer)," Anderson said. "I've been waiting for that offer for while. I like UT a lot and it's a school that I've thought about going to for a while."
With the visit, Anderson said that he's ready to start heading into the home-stretch of the recruiting process.
"There's just one more school that I haven't seen that I would still like to see," Anderson said. I just want to know what Oklahoma State is like. That's the only one that I haven't visited. I'm not sure when I'll visit them. Nothing is set up."
As far as the naming a leader is concerned, Anderson remained noncommittal.
Yeah, I wouldn't use those words (having a leader)," he said. "I'm never really sure where I want to go. Every school that I've visited is great and they are all different. Everyone has great coaches that are unique to me. I can't say anyone is really No.1 or No.5."
Anderson is currently rated No.21 on the Lone Star Recruiting list.
