The emerging Sheldon Price
A year ago sophomore cornerback Sheldon Price was rushed into duty as a true freshman due to injuries. The opposition made him a marked man, exploited his inexperience and his slight frame, but to his credit, Price kept battling. Though the opposition went after him on the ground and in the air, he kept his head and his confidence up.
The patience the coaching staff showed Price paid off in a big way on Saturday as he made several key plays in what could be termed as a breakout game for the young Bruin cornerback.
For the game, Price accounted for six tackles, four of them solo and one pass deflection, but that doesn't tell the full story. Three of those solo tackles were indeed solo because he was pretty much alone and if he would have missed, Texas would go for a first down, if not a long gain.
