Tech evaluating Metroplex WR
Denton (Texas) Guyer wide receiver Conner Crane has been receiving interest from across the country and most of those programs have come through with offers. For reasons unbeknownst to him, the 2012 prospect is still waiting to add a couple from the Lone Star State.
"I wouldn't say that I'm looking to leave Texas. I've gotten some attention from some other places and I have a lot of great options right now," Crane said. "I would, of course, like the opportunity to play in Texas, but it's looking like I may have to head elsewhere. It won't be a huge deal if I do. I've been shown some interest by some great programs out-of-state."
Crane mentioned Kansas, Colorado, Northwestern, and Boise State as a few of the programs he's hearing from the most right now. Texas Tech has spent the past few months evaluating the 6-foot-4, 185-pounder, and could possibly pull the trigger on an offer next month.
"I've been in contact with Coach Sonny Cumbie and their offensive coordinator Neal Brown. They've been out to a few of our spring practices" he said. "They've just told me that May is when they've been traveling around evaluating everyone, and June is when they'll kind of refocus and see what offers they're wanting to get out."
Crane is familiar with Texas Tech's program, as well as the city of Lubbock.
"I know quite a bit about them and I would definitely be interested in playing there if I had the opportunity. I've been out to Lubbock a few times and I have a good feel for what it's like there."
So far Crane has plans to attend a Northwestern camp the first week in June, and he hopes to attend a Stanford camp later in the month. If he can get plans in place to accommodate it, he'd like to make a decision before the fall.
"I want to make a decision before my season, but I definitely want to try and get out to see all of the places that are showing me the most interest," he said. "So if I can't get out to them on unofficals this summer then I'll probably wait until later to make a decision after I've made some official visits next fall."
Crane currently holds offers from Arizona, Boise State, Colorado, Dartmouth, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisiana Tech, Northwestern, Oregon, Purdue, Rice, and Utah.
