Steve Spurrier acknowledged Wednesday during his weekly appearance on the SEC teleconference that he was informed late Monday by South Carolina athletic department officials that quarterback Stephen Garcia would be dismissed from the football team for failing to abide by the conditions in his reinstatement contract.
