No. 17 Mississippi State returns to the hardwood this afternoon after taking a week away for finals.
The Bulldogs will put their seven game winning streak on the line hosting Troy at 3 p.m.
"They are a very dangerous team," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "You saw they just beat Miami of Ohio and had them down by 25 or 26 points. They lead the country in 3-pointers made per game, over 12 per game and 29 attempts per game. That's still pretty good shooting, over 40-percent. Anytime you shoot the ball like that you are a dangerous basketball team."
MSU has never lost to the Trojans in eight previous meetings. However it took overtime to decide the winner last season. The Bulldogs rallied back from down 11 points at halftime to force the overtime in which they won 92-83 behind Ravern Johnson's 33 point effort including seven 3-pointers.
State is 66-14 all-time against teams from the Sun Belt Conference. The Bulldogs are 3-0 so far this season against the Sun Belt with wins over South Alabama, Louisiana-Monroe and North Texas.
Mississippi State is 8-1 on the year and are coming off a 75-62 win over West Virginia last Saturday in the Big East/ SEC Challenge. Junior forward Arnett Moultrie added another double-double to his resume with 21 points and 13 rebounds shooting 7-of-8 from the field against the Mountaineers.
