Redmond is ready for move
Two words await Mississippi State signees once they arrive for the summer semester - Matt Balis.
The Bulldogs strength coordinator's workouts have struck fear in many a freshman upon their arrival in Starkville. But for Will Redmond, he will use Balis' workout as a measuring stick.
"I'm leaving Saturday morning," Redmond said. "I'll probably get down there around 8 (o'clock). I'm not nervous, I'm excited to get down there. I'm really just ready for (Balis') workout. If I can get past that I'll be good."
Redmond has already started his prep by following the workout plan Balis and his strength staff sent him in the mail shortly after signing day. He has already put on five pounds and is up to 183.
But Redmond understands that following a workout book and DVD will be much different than what he will face in person next week.
"Once you're just reading the book it's not that intimidating, you're just doing it," Redmond said. "But I think once you get down there with him and you do it the way he wants you to do it I think it will get a lot worse. He started while we were down there at the spring game and told us he was going to run us."
The Memphis, Tenn., four-star athlete was one of MSU's more heralded recruits in the 2012 class. Redmond did a little bit of everything his senior year at East High School during his senior year. He carried 61 times for 545 yards and seven touchdowns, made 27 catches for 563 yards and eight score and also completed 11-of-19 passing for 268 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
