NOTEBOOK: Grimes wants more from the OL
AUBURN -- Jeff Grimes took an unusually inexperienced offensive line to Atlanta last week with high expectations.
They met those expectations in some important ways.
Auburn's offensive line coach said Wednesday that his group, which included three players making their first college start, competed well and communicated well for the most part.
That's a strong first step.
"They enjoyed playing together. Played well. Played hard early in the game," Grimes said. "As the game wore on, I thought we lost a little bit of that. There's so many things that we have so far to go on, too. I'm not at all pleased with our protection and at times things we did in the run game were good and at times they stunk. It was a positive in that we got three guys out there who got their first game behind them. That will be a positive for them and the group moving forward."
