Not many outside the program believed Mississippi State would be sitting undefeated in conference play.
But Rick Ray's Bulldogs have managed three-straight victories for the first time all season and hope to keep the streak alive tonight hosting Alabama at 8 p.m.
MSU is 7-7 on the year and 2-0 in the SEC with wins over South Carolina and Georgia. The Bulldogs are looking for their first 3-0 start in league play since 2010.
Alabama leads the overall series 115-73 but the Bulldogs hold a 56-36 lead in Starkville and have won 12 of the last 15 games inside Humphrey Coliseum.
The twin state rivals split last season's series with State claiming a 56-52 victory in Starkville and the Crimson Tide winning 67-50 at Coleman Coliseum. In that last outing in Tuscaloosa, Mississippi State received a pair of 14-point games from Renardo Sidney and Dee Bost.
The Bulldogs 72-61 victory over Georgia on Saturday was their first win outside the Magnolia State on the year behind a career-high 21 points from junior shooting guard Jalen Steele, which included four 3-pointers.
