Bomar was the first of big 2 in 2004
Often early commitments fall to the back of Sooners fans minds by the time National Signing Day arrives in February. In 2004, the Sooners received a surprise July commitment from Grand Prairie, Texas five-star quarterback Rhett Bomar. With the need for a quality quarterback the importance of the commitment may have tapered off in the minds of some Sooner fans as the months crawled forward, but after watching his performance in the Army All-American game it did not take long for the excitement to reignite about the No. 1 quarterback in the country..
