Receiver wants to catch ND's attention
Wide receiver James Kirkendoll hadn't heard much from Notre Dame.
So the Round Rock, Texas, athlete decided to show the Irish coaching staff why he deserved a little more attention. The 6-foot, 170-pound wide out trekked to South Bend last weekend to work out at the adidas combine where Irish head coach Charlie Weis prowled the sidelines. Kirkendoll said he posted the fastest 40-yard dash (4.4) at the camp and the quickest shuttle (4.31).
Those stats should catch the eye of any college program, and they've helped Kirkendoll already grab offers from Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Florida, Clemson, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. As for Notre Dame, Kirkendoll said his contact with the Irish has been limited to a handful of letters.
"I haven't heard from them yet but I really like Notre Dame and I'm really strongly considering them right now," Kirkendoll said. "I've always liked Notre Dame. I see them on television every Saturday."
