Is UVa still showing interest in Houston?
Matthews (N.C.) Butler running back Ryan Houston (6-foot-2, 235 pounds, 4.58 seconds) was offered a scholarship early by Virginia. The Cavaliers' 2007 recruiting class will not be a large class and with one running back, Max Milien, already in the fold, there are questions if Virginia will continue to recruit the position. The powerful Houston is one of the best prospects in the Tar Heel State.
"I am still very interested in Virginia but recruiting is not my focus right now to be honest. I am focused on getting my work done academically and preparing myself for football. I will focus more on recruiting as the summer progresses."
Last season, Houston rushed for 1,918 yards and 34 touchdowns. He played sparingly on defense but he was the stopper on the defensive line when Butler lined up for crucial third-down stands.
