Jones could be state's top prospect for 2008
While there's still debate over who's the top football prospect in the state of Alabama for the class of 2007, the early discussion over the state's top recruit for 2008 begins and ends with Foley, Ala., wide receiver Julio Jones.
The 6-foot-3, 202-pound Jones put together a remarkable sophomore year on the football field and in track, winning the Class 6A state championship in the Long Jump and Triple Jump.
While Jones's sophomore statistics were unavailable, he was the team's leading receiver and the top target of quarterback Roosevelt Byrd who threw for 2,313 yards and 24 touchdowns last season.
"I think I run good routes and do a good job getting in and out of my routes," said Jones. "I have good size and can go up and get the ball."
