McNeil back from UA; closes in on decision
Davidson safety Michael McNeil is closing in on 20 scholarship offers, with most of the top programs in the South trying to land the Mobile standout. Alabama, Auburn and Florida State are currently in the middle of a heated battle for his services and over the weekend McNeil took another unofficial visit to the Capstone to visit with and compete in front of the Tide staff.
"I didn't have to compete, but some of my teammates were going to so I went ahead because I wanted 'Bama to see my coverage skills. I wanted them to see my one-on-one at my best," McNeil said. "The camp was great and had a lot of fast receivers and quarterbacks who could throw the ball. I only got beat on one pass play and after that I shut them down.
"It was a fun experience and a good workout. I'm the kind of guy who wants to see what I can do against the best of the best and that's what the talent level at Alabama was this weekend."
