Evans sets strength record
Much hoopla has encompassed the play and potential of freshmen cornerbacks Asher Allen and Prince Miller during spring practice and summer workouts for the Georgia Bulldogs. A forgotten man though in a very tight competition for playing time at is redshirt freshman Bryan Evans, who hopes to return to the playing field this fall following a redshirt year.
"I've never really sat on the bench as long as I have now other than in high school when I was in 10th grade," Evans said.
Evans injured his neck during spring practice, but has made a full recovery that's allowed him to fully participate in summer workouts.
"I'm pretty much where I'm supposed to be," Evans said. "My strength and everything is back to normal. I'm ready just to get out there."
In fact, Evans recently broke a school record by bench-pressing 390 pounds, the most of any Bulldog defensive back. Evans is counting on his strong summer in the weight room to translate onto the field.
