Healthier Hahnfeldt a go for 2006
Vanderbilt got a pleasant surprise with the arrival of Bryant Hahnfeldt last season. The true freshman signee from Nashville's Montgomery Bell Academy became one of Vanderbilt's best freshman kickers in recent memory, taking the kicking game from a team weakness and turning it into a strength.
The Commodores also got an unpleasant surprise in the season finale against Tennessee. While attempting to make a tackle on a kickoff return, Hahnfeldt's body went one way, and his knee another.
The result was a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which not only sidelined Hahnfeldt from the game, but for spring practices also.
