Havili stays humble
With starting fullback Brandon Hancock suffering a career ending knee injury earlier this week, freshman Stanley Havili has been thrust into learning a new position by trial and error.
As a running back at Cottonwood High School in Salt Lake City (Utah), Havili was an all-state standout who ran for more than 1,800 yards as a junior.
And while making the move from running back to fullback may not seem drastic, Havili is now forced to do something he's never done before.
"I have to get better at blocking because I've never blocked before in my life," said the soft-spoken Havili. "Coming out of the backfield and hitting people will be something I've got to learn to love. That's where I need to strive to be better."
In this day and age of college football, freshmen rarely admit their limitations on the field. Brash and confident, their ability to make an immediate impact is only restricted by the amount of opportunities they're given to shine.
