Senior defensive end Adam Carriker's father Dave Carriker may have developed the newest nickname for his son.

This past weekend the 6-foot-6, 295 pound Carriker was named a Husker captain along with quarterback Zac Taylor and safety Brandon Rigoni.

When Carriker called his father in Washington to tell him he was named a captain, his dad asked him if he could call him by a different name.

"He wants to know if he has to call me Captain Crunch now," Carriker joked. "He says I crunch everybody and I'm a captain, so he wants to call me Captain Crunch now."
