Top ranked Monroe talks KU, others
Standing atop the Rivals150 list is a feat that very few players seldom experience. LeBron James was the first player selected in the 2003 NBA draft. A year later, Dwight Howard was the top pick in the draft. Greg Oden would have been the first player selected in the 2006 NBA draft, but new rules postponed Oden's entrance for a short period of time. When the 2008 rankings were released, Greg Monroe, the 6-foot-10, 226-pound power forward from Helen Cox High School in Harvey, La., had earned the right to be named the top player in the class.
Monroe, the No. 1 ranked power forward, is honored to be the top player in the class of 2008. More than anything else, the five-star prospect realizes that his work ethic and intense dedication to the game is beginning is paying off.
Schools such as Arkansas, Baylor, Duke, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina and Southern California continue to make a strong push for the talented prospect.
