Adam Austin prepared for first start
When sophomore quarterback Willie Tuitama was taken out of last week's game against LSU in the third quarter, there was a general consensus among Wildcats fans that there was nothing Adam Austin could do but perform better. At the end of the game, Austin had completed eight of 19 passes for 60 yards and one interception.
Austin's numbers were not stellar, but as a backup quarterback going into one of the toughest venues to play in the country, the odds were not stacked in his favor.
Overall, the general feeling from players and coaches was that Austin's 2006 debut was a success.
"Adam is doing a great job," said Arizona head coach Mike Stoops. "He's got a lot of experience, he really understands the offense and we really like what he's doing."
With Tuitama sidelined up until Thursday with a concussion, Austin will get the start for Arizona against Stephen F. Austin.
