A complete breakdown of the Troy game
All week the Nebraska offense had to hear how conservative they looked at USC and how they couldn't produce the big play.
In Saturday's 56-0 victory over Troy it was almost as if Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan and his team took the criticism they got for their offensive performance in Los Angeles personal.
When it was all said and done Nebraska finished Saturday with 597 yards of total offense on 69 plays. The Huskers set the tone right away in the first quarter by putting up 182 yards of total offense to the pave the way for defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove's first ever shut out at Nebraska.
"We didn't need for this team to hang around," junior cornerback Andre Jones said. "We watched film on this team and they gave Florida State hell and they gave Georgia Tech hell.
"We knew they had talent and we knew that if we let them hang around in the game too long we were going to let them build their confidence. We just had to hit them in the mouth early."
