Travis Thomas is expected to move from outside linebacker to running back. Like the defensive line, shifts within the linebacker corps could be significant because of the adjusted alignment/philosophy.

Spring outlook:

Due to Corwin Brown's defensive background, Charlie Weis' familiarity with the 3-4/3-4 personnel, and the make-up of Notre Dame's defensive front seven, the shift in philosophy makes sense. The Irish have more linebacker types than defensive lineman types.
