James Dockery--Redshirt Review

BeaverBlitz.com After a 2005 season that was uncharacteristically bad for the Oregon State secondary, it wasn't any surprise that the Beavers coaching staff looked for additional help in the 2006 recruiting class. James Dockery was one of two very talented prep safeties to sign in that class. After going through a summer camp and then the 2006 season as a redshirt, how far along is Dockery on the development curve?
Dockery was highly recruited coming out of Palm Desert High School in La Quinta, California. He was the type of athlete that had the potential to contribute at a number of different positions at the college level. There was some talk that he would get his first look on the offensive side of the ball as a receiver and possibly a chance to return kicks on special teams. James has settled into a heated battle for playing time at both of the safety positions in the OSU secondary.
