Spring Review: WR
Last season, Arizona State's entire wide receiver group consisting of nine players had just 88 catches for 1,499 yards -- numbers that were only marginally better than the production of Derek Hagan alone in the 2004 season, when he had 84 catches for 1,248 yards, and in 2005, when he had 77 catches and 1,210 yards.
Contrast Hagan's junior and senior year performances with the 2006 campaign, when Mike Jones was the team's learning wide receiver with 20 catches for 318 yards and it's easy to get an idea just how woefully inept the team's passing attack really was.
It's clear then, that the wide receiver group was going to be a major focal area this spring.
