Manuel shines at Elite combine
WALDWICK, N.J.- With a brilliant display of passing prowess at Tuesday night's Elite College Combine, Virginia Beach Bayside quarterback E.J. Manuel threw his name firmly into the discussion for the nation's top signal caller.
The 6-foot-6, 210-pounder showed off a big, accurate arm and smooth, effortless mobility during the nearly four hour workout in front of hundreds of fellow prospects, onlookers and college coaches at the event 30 miles outside of New York City.
"I had an awesome time out here," Manuel said following the workout. "I am so glad that I came here. I felt like I threw the ball very well."
Manuel, who connected with fellow Virginian and emerging sleeper receiver prospect Morgan Carter several times during the one-on-one drills, was named the quarterback Most Valuable Player of the camp and the overall offensive MVP.
