Cats get into mix for nation's No. 1 junior
Many Kentucky fans were shocked to learn earlier this spring that the nation's top-rated junior basketball prospect, Louisiana power forward Greg Monroe, had not heard from the Wildcats on the recruiting trail.
But like so many other things since the arrival of Billy Gillispie in Lexington, much has changed in a very short amount of time.
"Kentucky has come on strong lately," Monroe said. "They've picked things up since coach Gillispie got there. I got to talk to him recently and coach (Glynn) Cyprien has been on me real hard. He was recruiting me when he was at Arkansas, so I already knew him. He seems like a really good guy. He's originally from down in this area, around New Orleans, so we have something in common."
