Setback for Kinne
Less than three weeks remain on the calendar before G.J. Kinne will move to Austin and begin his career as a Texas Longhorn. As one might expect, the blue-chip quarterback has been counting the days and putting in a lot of hard work in preparation for the next stage of his football career, and things were progressing nicely as Kinne came down the home stretch.
Unfortunately, things changed in a hurry with the Gilmer standout running into an unexpected setback when he recently contracted mononucleosis, putting an instant halt to his football workouts. In fact, the illness struck just as Gilmer was readying for the Class 3A baseball playoffs, and Kinne was forced to sit out his team's season-ending first-round loss.
With his baseball career over, Kinne would like to be putting 100 percent of his efforts into football preparation, but he's been forced to spend the past week getting as much rest as possible.
