Walker Opens It Up
Erving Walker has reopened his recruitment. It should surprise no one.
One of the main reasons Walker, a 5-foot-6 point guard from Middle Village (N.Y.) Christ The King, verbally committed to Florida was because of Billy Donovan's strong recruiting roots in the New York City Area. Donovan is originally from Rockville Centre on Long Island. Walker is rated as the 29th best point guard and No. 148 player overall in the Rivals.com Top 150 of 2008.
Donovan was named the Orlando Magic head coach Friday and now Florida is in the process of searching for its new coach. Athletics director Jeremy Foley was expected to meet with Virginia Commonwealth's Anthony Grant Saturday. Grant was an assistant coach under Donovan for 10 years at Florida and two at Marshall. For now, it seems recruiting at Florida has stalled until the new regime is in place.
