Nunn hopes to contribute in first year
Kyle Nunn really liked Virginia Tech.
But after listening to his heart, he signed with South Carolina in February.
With the calendar reaching late June, his career as a Gamecock football player is about to begin.
Nunn, an all-state offensive lineman from Sumter, S.C. and a member of the 2006 Shrine Bowl team, is set to arrive on campus July 5th for orientation and the start of summer conditioning workouts.
He hopes to catch the eye of offensive line coach John Hunt during fall camp and earn some playing time as a true freshman but won't be disappointed if he's required to redshirt.
USC wants Nunn to try playing center, he said.
"I would love to get on the field this year," said Nunn, who expects to wear No. 68, his high school number. "Hopefully, it'll be at center. I'm going to go in there and try my hardest to get a spot and compete. But if that doesn't work out then a redshirt wouldn't be a bad idea."
