Barnes keeping his chin up
Things are not going exactly as planned for Georgia quarterback Blake Barnes. Though he has been in Athens since December 2003, he has rarely seen the field, and that does not look to change any time soon with two younger quarterbacks on the depth chart ahead of him.
Having both graduated high school early, Barnes and fellow quarterback A.J. Bryant enrolled at UGA for the 2004 winter semester and were able to participate in spring camp. At the time, senior David Greene was the number one with junior D.J. Shockley close behind. Also on the roster was sophomore Joe Tereshinski.
Both Barnes and Bryant were highly rated recruits. Barnes, from Baldwyn, Miss., was listed as the number nine quarterback in the nation while Bryant, from Fort Valley, was the number one athlete.
