Back in the hunt
Don't expect Omar Hunter to moonlight as a tight end this fall.
The last time the 6-foot-2, 295-pound defensive tackle tried to diversify his game during Buford's opening spring practice, Hunter wound up with a broken left tibia. On a freak play while blocking, Buford's running back accidentally kicked Hunter in the leg, causing the break and sending the four-star athlete into almost four months of rehabilitation.
But now healthy, Hunter wants put his injury behind him and help Buford reestablish among Georgia's perennial state champions. The Wolves haven't won a title during Hunter's prep career, coming as close as a runner-up finish in 2004. If Buford, the alma mater of former Irish running back Darius Walker, does climb back to the top, Hunter will be a big part of that success.
