Missouri City (Tex.) Elkins three-star linebacker Blake Slaughter is planning to make a verbal commitment sometime in August and he got a chance to see one of his top schools in person over the weekend. Slaughter made the road trip to Iowa State and took part in a one-day prospect camp at ISU.

The 6-foot-0, 220-pound Slaughter has a total of 11 scholarship offers and has narrowed his focus down to five top schools: Iowa State, Rice, Kansas State, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.
