Monday Infirmary Report: In and Out
No one is sure when it happened, but backup quarterback Mark Sanchez suffered a hairline fracture in his right thumb sometime during Sunday night's scrimmage. He could be back in a week, but he also might miss the opener against Idaho on Sept. 1, coach Pete Carroll said.
"It sounds like, when the pain subsides, he'll be able to come back - when he can grip the football again," said Carroll, who added that the injury will not require surgery.
If the season were to start today, and starter John David Booty were to get hurt, Michael McDonald would be the first quarterback off the bench. But, during practice, true freshman Aaron Corp will see the majority of the second-team snaps.
