Preseason camp winding down
The end is in sight for UCF's football players.
After two weeks of long, hot practice sessions and countless hours in the meeting rooms, preseason camp is drawing to a close for the Knights. The team will hit the fields once more Saturday night and then take Sunday off before school begins Monday.
"I think we're probably where we want to be," head coach George O'Leary said after Friday's practice. "We still have Saturday left for installation. We won't go Sunday. We're going to change practice to Saturday night, 7:15 to 9:15. I want to do more scrimmaging tomorrow night. They'll have a day and a half to get off their feet a little bit. Sunday we won't practice and then Monday goes to season installation."
Saturday's practice had originally been scheduled for 3:00 p.m. It's also the last opportunity for fans to attend practice before they are closed to the public beginning Monday.
As for Friday's workout, which was held inside the Nicholson Fieldhouse, O'Leary said it was a good day, particularly for the offense. UCF's top two quarterbacks, Kyle Israel and Joe Weatherford, were on target, connecting with Rocky Ross, Kamar Aiken, Jamar Newsome and Sidney Haynes for nice catches during scrimmage work.
