Dawgs ready for Gamecocks
Although he played briefly in Georgia's 2006 opener against Western Kentucky, it was the following week at South Carolina where Matthew Stafford received his first extended look as the Bulldogs' quarterback.
Stafford got his chance when Joe Tereshinski sprained his ankle in the first quarter and did not return.
Georgia won the game, blanking the Gamecocks 18-0, although Stafford had mixed feeling regarding his own performance after throwing for 171 yards , albeit with three interceptions.
"I played all right, but I turned the ball over three times. Fortunately, I played well enough to keep us in it," Stafford said. "But just the fact that I was able to get in that year, it kind of got me rolling, I guess."
