Dawgs ready for redemption
There was once a time when playing a team like Western Carolina wouldn't have even caused Georgia mascot Uga VI to lift an eyebrow.
No longer. Appalachian State took care of that.
When the Mountaineers upset 5th-ranked Michigan 34-32, not only did it send shock waves throughout the college football world, but it provided the perfect motivational tool to coaches like Mark Richt, whose Bulldogs entertain the Catamounts at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sanford Stadium.
Cornerback Thomas Flowers has certainly been paying attention.
"They (Appalachian State) are going down in history as one of the biggest upsets," Flowers said. "My senior year, I don't want to be labeled an upset to Western Carolina, so, we've got to stay focused."
Richt certainly hopes that's the case.
