When faced with the formidable task of formulating a column on Arizona's disappointing loss to New Mexico, I did what any reasonable Wildcat football fan would do: I asked around.



It didn't take long to come up with a laundry list of topics. I could have written - at length - about:



-- The lack of discipline.



When players are getting arrested two nights before kickoff, it's never a good thing. When the head coach gets flagged 15 yards to set up a key touchdown drive against his defense, it only unravels things further.



-- Nearly 100 yards in penalties.



The Wildcats also had a roughing-the-passer call on the Lobos' game-turning TD drive right before the half. Then there was the brain cramp on fourth-and-1 when defensive end Louis Holmes jumped offside.



-- Turnovers.



Two critical fumbles - one by quarterback Willie Tuitama, the other by running back Chris Jennings - were huge. I credit Tui for tucking it under and trying to make a play near the goal line. He just needs to understand that possession is more important than a touchdown in that circumstance. Live to play another down, young man.
