'Full pads' for Huskers
Helmets and shoulder pads will be popping this week at Nebraska football practice. That's a certainty.
Still stinging from Saturday night's lopsided loss to No. 1-ranked Southern California, Nebraska players returned to the practice field Tuesday wearing full pads. It was the Cornhuskers' first practice in full pads since last month.
"I think we need it. We haven't done it since fall camp," Nebraska quarterback Sam Keller said. "We went up against some really darn good football players (Saturday night) and they pounded us.
"We need to go back to the drawing board and pound each other a little bit . . . see if we can't get our mojo back."
Getting their mojo back is just one of the tasks at hand this week as the Huskers prepare for Ball State, their final non-conference tune-up before the start of Big 12 Conference play.
