Defense: Three from the First Third

UGASports.com | With one third of the season in the books, we thought it might be a good time to take a look at who has made the biggest impact on the Georgia defense, who has been a surprise, and who might be feeling the heat. Impact: Dannell Ellerbe Blessed with outstanding speed and tremendous tackling form, much was expected from Ellerbe when he first arrived on campus after signing with the Bulldogs in Feb. of 2004.
However, Ellerbe's ride into Division I-A stardom has been anything but smooth. Ellerbe was suspended by Coach Mark Richt for the first three games of 2006 following alcohol-related charges of theft of an automobile. He was placed on sixth-months probation by the UGA student judiciary committee and ordered to attend an alcohol awareness class. Ellerbe appears to have learned his lesson, both off and on the field.
