Buffs looking to extend win streak to four
BOULDER, Colo. - Coming into the 2007 season, most Colorado fans would have considered six wins and a bowl game appearance as a successful campaign. Just two wins shy of becoming bowl eligible and still half the season remaining, fan expectations have changed.
At 2-0 in conference play, the Buffaloes currently sit atop the Big 12 North Standings. But a loss in Manhattan this Saturday could potentially send them back to the middle of the pack.
Statistically, Kansas State and Colorado match up comparably. The Wildcats rank 22nd in the nation in total defense and 68th in total offense, while the Buffaloes rank 21st in defense and 70th in offense.
"I like the way they play," Buffs' head coach Dan Hawkins said of Kansas State on Tuesday. "They play hard, they come after you in every phase and they do a great job. They don't make mistakes. I like the way Ron [Price] coaches his guys."
Sophomore Josh Freeman has developed a reputation as one of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12. He threw for a career-best 305 yards against Kansas last Saturday, but also threw three picks. In his brief college career, Freeman has thrown 12 more interceptions than touchdowns.
