Alex Stepheson could have gone to almost any other college in the country and would have been thrust into a key role immediately. However, as one of six true freshmen on arguably the deepest team in UNC history last season, Stepheson had to pay his dues.

"It was a learning experience, I think, for the most part," said Stepheson about his rookie season. "I didn't get as much time as I wanted, but I still learned a lot in practice, and then in the game experiences, I learned a lot in there, too. So, if anything, I think it was a preparation for the next few years."
