Insider: Booty looks ready; more on Oregon
If John David Booty is healthy Saturday, he will start at home against Oregon State. The way everyone's talking, it sure looks like he will be healthy.
"I've got my velocity back," said the senior, who has sat the previous three games with a broken middle finger on his throwing hand. "The ball's spinning again.
I really felt like I was getting back to my old self."
During Monday's brief, no-helmets, no-pads practice, Booty got the bulk of the work with the first-team offense. Mark Sanchez - who was 66-of-110 (60 percent) for 642 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions the past three weeks - took snaps mostly with the second team and the scout team. He played sparingly with the first team.
"(Booty) feels great," coach Pete Carroll said. "This is the best he's felt by far. He ripped the ball around really good today, but it's a long week throwing, so we've got see what happens (with the finger).
"We'll keep Mark sharp in the meantime, see where we are."
