Flashes cruise to exhibition win
Kent State rolled to a 92-65 exhibition victory over the pesky Terriers of Hiram College Saturday afternoon in front of 876 at the M.A.C. Center in Kent.
Junior Rashad Woods led the Golden Flashes-who open the regular season Saturday at Detroit-with 18 points while senior Mike Scott contributed 13 points and five rebounds. In all, three Kent State players scored in double figures and 12 of 13 scored at least one point.
"I have to watch the tape, but there were a lot of good things and a lot of bad things," said Kent State head coach Jim Christian. "I thought some guys played well."
Hiram led 7-6 early but Kent State rallied for a 14-13 lead with 14:17 left in the first half. The Golden Flashes then used runs of 10 and 12 points to put away the Terriers at the break with a 51-27 lead.
"It's good to see us score," Christian said. "But I really don't read too much into (exhibition) games. Right now we have to concentrate on playing Detroit."
