Big games loom ahead for Wolfpack
The North Carolina State football team won't say the "B" word, but it is going to start popping up.
The Wolfpack improved to 5-5 with its 31-27 win over North Carolina on Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium, setting up a possible story-book turnaround the next two weeks, with an away game at Wake Forest next Saturday, followed by a home game against Maryland. A clean sweep would lead to a "bowl" bid, and a split would mean NC State will need some help.
To even be in the bowl discussion is an impressive achievement for a team that was once upon a time 1-5 and heading nowhere.
"We're playing the way that we have to play to win football games," NC State coach Tom O'Brien said. "That's what this game is about. Putting your people in a position and giving them the best chance to win.
"This team has a great amount of pride among themselves and a lot of want-to right now. They have had success. This team has found out a little bit on how to win."
