Evens recaps his trip to San Diego State
The Aztecs hosted a big group of official visitors this weekend. One of the prospects in town was Harrison Evens.
"I actually just got back from San Diego, the trip went well," explained the 5-foot-10, 180-pound running back from Tempe (Ariz.) Marcos De Niza. "They have a nice campus.
"I had been out there unofficially earlier in the year but this trip gave me more of an opportunity to hang out with the team, see the campus and get to know their coaches. I sat down with the running backs coach, so that was good."
Freshman quarterback Ryan Lindley served as Evens' player host for the weekend and he roomed with SDSU commit Reuben Willis.
Evens admitted that he was a little tempted to commit to the Aztecs this weekend.
"But I'd still like to take some other trips, then I'll make my decision," he said. "But San Diego State is my favorite right now."
Arizona State, Boise State and Cal are other programs that have shown interest in Evens.
"I don't have any [other official visits] scheduled right now because I am playing basketball," he said. "But, like I said, I would like to fit a couple more in before I make my final decision."
Evens rushed for 1,393 yards and 14 touchdowns on 113 carries this season, helping Marcos De Niza to a 10-2 record. He also caught 46 passes out of the backfield for 793 yards and six scores.
