Jadarius Brown - I contacted this two star DB tonight and he told me he is thinking about visiting Middle Tennessee this coming weekend. "Coach was telling me something about it but I haven't heard too much about it. I'm going to check into though this week," Brown said. Middle will have some serious ground to make up though, as Brown really likes Georgia Southern and Louisville. Says he is definitely still interested in Middle Tennessee and would like to visit, but he did mention that he did not have an offer from the Blue Raiders.
Derrick Harris - This two star wide receiver has Middle at the top of a short list including the likes of Georgia Southern, Valdosta, and East Carolina. He is eager to set up an official visit, and is looking to come to Murfreesboro the first weekend of February. "I haven't taken any visits yet but I'm trying to go to Middle Tennessee on an official visit," Harris said. The only thing holding back Middle Tennessee is that they are waiting on his SAT scores to come back. Harris did say the Blue Raiders are recruiting him at both the wide receiver position and at defensive back as well. With his 4.4 speed, Harris could definitely help out the Blue Raiders wherever needed. When asked if he had the hands to go with the speed, he replied with a simple "yes sir!"
TJ Brown - Some disappointing news tonight on Brown, for Middle Tennessee at least. Brown has narrowed his list down to two schools: Eastern Kentucky and Georgia Southern. Brown says he will visit both of these schools in the coming weekend, and then make a decision from there. " I have narrowed it down to two. Georgia Southern and Eastern Kentucky are my favorites. Ill be taking visits to them over the next two weeks."
Steadman Bell - A relatively unknown recruit, Bell was receiving interest from Middle Tennessee early in the recruiting process, but he says there is no interest from Middle at this point. Bell wants to stay in state, and could be a good walk-on candidate for the Blue Raiders if he doesn't end up with any offers. Bell said he does have some interest coming from Tennessee State, UT-Martin , and Memphis. He has visited TSU and Memphis. Bell is a dual sport player, and plays basketball on top of football. When it comes to college though, Bell wants to play college football. As of now, he has no offers on the table. Remember this name for when we start talking about walk-on prospects in the spring though.
Marcus Thurmond - One of the first commitments for the Blue Raiders, Thurmond confirmed his choice again today, saying he is sticking with the Blue Raiders, and will not be setting up anymore official visits.
Jacquise Terry - a commitment for Kent, there was speculation that Terry would be in Murfreesboro for the weekend, for an official visit. This however, is not the case. Terry told Jonathan Hutton of his intentions to stay at Kent, and that he will not be taking anymore visits.
Alfred Davis - GoMiddle.com has confirmed that Davis is still on tap to be in Murfreesboro this weekend. Remember, Middle will be his fourth official visit, and by all accounts his last. A commitment may be in the works this weekend from Davis. Whether or not it is to Middle Tennessee is yet to be determined.
Jorrick Calvin - Calvin did confirm to Jonathan Hutton that he has verbally committed to Troy. However, and this is a big however, Calvin will be in Murfreesboro this weekend for an official visit. Coach Antonio Goss set the visit up for him and Calvin also mentioned that head coach Rick Stockstill calls him "everyday." Calvin has kept his recruiting very quiet, but he did confirm those previous reports of his verbal commitment to Troy. With that said, I find it hard to believe that the Middle Tennessee coaching staff will be giving up on him. Calvin would definitely be the biggest catch for the Blue Raiders.
Bryant Newell - GoMiddle can confirm that Newell did visit Arkansas State, but Newell also stated he will be in Murfreesboro either this week or next week. Newell, who is extremely high on Arkansas, currently only holds offers from Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State, and Missouri State. Remember this name over the weekend, because it could be showing up on the commitment list for the Blue Raiders.
Zach Maynard - Maynard confirmed with Jonathan Hutton that he will be in Murfreesboro the weekend of February 1st. Says he is down to two schools. Middle Tennessee and Buffalo. He also mentioned he will be in Buffalo this coming week, but will take his final visit to Middle Tennessee State. Maynard, who has been touted as the quarterback of the future for Middle Tennessee, would bring some much needed depth to a depleted line of quarterbacks, and would undoubtedly be the successor to Dwight Dasher.
Casey Hayward - Two star athlete out of Perry, Georgia gave Vanderbilt a solid verbal today. Hayward chose Vandy over offers from Middle Tennessee, Troy, and Southern Miss. Hayward told Vandysports.com's Jesse Johnson that he "felt that it was the right choice."
