Scouting Report: Offensive backfield
Angie Machado
BeaverBlitz.com The Beavers have had the luxury of having some outstanding running backs over the past few years. Starting with Ken Simonton and Steven Jackson, the Beavers have had two outstanding years of production recently from Yvenson Bernard. With Ryan McCants, Ahmed Mohktar, and Patrick Fuller waiting in the wings, the Beavers look to add depth and talent with JUCO transfer Jeremy Francis, whose blocking and receiving ability will be showcased, and Texas Mr. Touchdown himself, Jacquizz Rodgers. The Beavers will also bring Jovan Stevenson in during January of 2009 who will add to the depth without having a jam on the depth chart.
Signing a quarterback was a key for this years class and the Beavers went out and found a gem in Santa Monica's Ryan Katz. After missing out on a scholarship signal caller last year when Jake Gelakoska failed to qualify, Katz will graduate high school early in order to get an extra spring in the Beavers system.
The BeaverBlitz Scouting Reports are based on the experience we've had at the Nike and College Camps in addition to first hand accounts from high school and junior college coaches that have worked with these players. We take into consideration information from the player, the physical attributes of each athlete, and information from other evaluators. We have taken the time to do film evaluation of each recruit. We've also tracked many of the in-state athletes through out their high school careers. The following comments are strictly our observations and opinions and do not reflect those of the Oregon State coaching staff.
