Woodson names new leader
Olive Branch safety Rod Woodson, the No. 2 ranked player on the recently-released RebelSports.net Preseason Mississippi Top 25, said Thursday that he has picked up scholarship offers from Alabama and Auburn.
One of those schools, Woodson said, has moved ahead of previous favorite Ole Miss in the race for his hard-hitting services.
"I like Alabama," Woodson said. "I like the way they play."
Woodson said Ole Miss is a close second for his services at this point, with Auburn third. Mississippi State, which entertained Woodson for a junior day in Starkville earlier this spring, is down the list.
Woodson, a 5-foot-11, 200-pounder who projects as a strong safety, had 140 tackles last season for the Conquistadors. He said he plans to camp at Ole Miss and Alabama this summer.
