Sooner signing hits a small delay
For Oklahoma's class of 2009, the day is finally here when high school athletes turn from recruits into full-fledged Sooners. Well, such is the case for most players. David Sims of Oroville (Calif.) Butte Community College recently found out that he was not going to be able to enroll on Monday morning. In fact Sims was already in Norman before the clerical error had been discovered.
"I'm not coming in until July, I just found out I have one class that I have to take. I start on it on Monday," Sims said. "The coaches know every thing. They told me to just go knock it out and get everything in line and get ready to go.
"Actually, I just got back from Norman on Friday. I was supposed to be there to report but Oklahoma had been trying to get a hold of my final transcript but everyone at Butte was on break so there was some trouble. I had to pull it unofficially off the internet and that's when we realized I had another class to take."
Sims will be taking the class through Butte C.C. and says it should take no more than three or four weeks to complete.
